Travel & where to stay
Andros has no airport, so every guest arrives by ferry, from the mainland or a neighbouring island. We recommend having a full travel day either side of the celebrations.
Fly into Athens or Mykonos
Both Athens International and Mykonos Airport work as your entry point. Choose whichever suits your route best.
Head to the ferry port
From Athens, that's Rafina port, roughly 20–25 minutes from the airport by taxi. From Mykonos, the ferry departs from Mykonos New Port, just a few minutes from the airport or town.
Ferry to Gavrio
From Rafina, crossings take roughly 1–2 hours. From Mykonos, expect around 1–2.5 hours depending on the operator. Tickets typically open 2–3 months before travel.
On to Batsi
Gavrio to Batsi is a quick trip: about 10–15 minutes by car or taxi, or around 20 minutes by local bus.
Ferry booking tips
- We recommend booking through Ferryhopper, also available as an app so you can keep your tickets on your phone.
- Bookings usually open 2–3 months before travel. It's too early to book just yet, so keep an eye out closer to the date.
- July is peak season on the Cyclades, so once bookings open, don't leave it too long, especially if you're bringing a car.
Getting around the island
- Taxis are available on the island for getting between Gavrio, Batsi, and elsewhere.
- You can hire a car from Athens and bring it over on the ferry, or rent one directly on the island once you arrive.
- Local buses also run between the main villages, including Gavrio and Batsi.
Accommodation
There are a few hotels just a 5-minute walk from the venue in Batsi. Once bookings open, usually around October, we'll let you know by email using the address you provide in the RSVP form, so you can book your room directly with the hotel.
If you'd prefer to stay a little more central, Batsi village itself is about a 20-minute walk from the venue, with a wider range of places to stay.
